Excerpt - Chasing Clover

“You’re impossible.” Nashville O’Leary scowled.

“And you can’t do much about it since your daddy sent me.” Clover smiled in victory.

He narrowed his gaze and a bizarre thing happened. He smiled. Not only did he have a great smile, he had really nice teeth. Gorgeous. With his clean cut hair and his crisp suit, he could have stepped off any hoity toity magazine cover for men. “Tell me, Clover, did you remember a resume for my files?”

She breathed, who knew she had held her breath? “Of course.” She swung her backpack down and reached inside, pulling out the expensive linen paper. She stood and passed it to him. He was a few inches taller.

He took the document and paused. He lifted it to his nose and his nostrils flared with his inhale. “It smells like sun block.”

“I have to take care of my skin.”

His eyes raked over her blatantly, and for a fraction of a second, desire ignited in the dark depths then vanished. “And I have to take care of my company. You just earned the empty office next to me.”

“Wow! Favoritism. Won’t the other O’Leary groupies be jealous?”

His smile faltered. “I plan on keeping a very close eye on you.”

She turned on her heel. “You’re the boss!” Walking to the door, she could feel his eyes burning against her body. He was checking her out.

“I don’t know if I appreciate your candid demeanor.” He announced as he crossed to her in just two strides.

Turning, she fought the liquid mush that had once been her stomach. It was all that remained from girl like jitters, and she tilted her chin. “What don’t you appreciate? The fact I’m not intimidated by your looks, or the fact it turns you on?”

Unmasked lust darkened his eyes and his lips curved into another smile. “I refuse to answer that.”

“Thanks, Mr. O’Leary, but you just did.”

“Call me Nash.”

I would call your name in bed if you wanted. “Nash it is.”
